Arrive prepared. Leave with a clearer plan.

Your first Kansas ignition interlock appointment is a chance to get familiar with the device, ask practical questions and understand the routine ahead.

A useful checklist

A little preparation
goes a long way.

In Hutchinson, El Dorado, Newton, Wellington, Harper, Johnson County or elsewhere in Kansas, confirm the service location and appointment details before you make the trip.

Find your county

1. Confirm your driving status.

Check with Kansas Department of Revenue Driver Solutions before driving to an appointment. A booking or installed device does not itself restore driving privileges. If you cannot legally drive, arrange lawful transportation for you and the vehicle.

Check Kansas license status

2. Gather the useful details.

KDOR instructs drivers who have an interlock restriction notice to bring it to the service provider. Ask the service center about the rest of its appointment requirements.

  • Your current interlock restriction notice and any relevant court instructions.
  • Identification and the vehicle year, make and model; ask which additional documents are needed.
  • Details about vehicle repairs, starting issues or electrical accessories to discuss with the technician.
  • Your confirmed quote, accepted payment method and enough time for installation and device training.

3. Make the training count.

At installation, learn the breath-sample technique and what the device displays mean. Ask how to respond to retest prompts, whom to contact for support and how to plan vehicle maintenance. Practice the instructions with the technician until you understand them.

4. Leave with your next date.

Keep a copy of your installation verification, service agreement and support information. Confirm your first monitoring appointment, the recurring charges and what to do if a scheduling issue comes up. Add the appointment to your calendar before the day gets busy.

See KDOR’s installation guidance and the Kansas Highway Patrol’s installation process. Requirements for your vehicle and driving record should be confirmed individually. Keep sensitive case documents out of your initial online inquiry.
